Judge A Book By Its Cover

Return to Success Stories index

Don’t judge a book by its cover? Why not? Especially when Nicole’s inspiration for her dream kitchen came right from the front cover of an American Woodmark catalog.

About the Project

NICOLE JOHNSON: JUNE 2011 HOME DEPOT KITCHEN OF THE MONTH

With catalog in hand, Nicole met with kitchen designer Fay Roberts of Chesterfield, Missouri, Home Depot Store #8994. Her inspiration began with the oh, so charming Savannah door style in complimentary Maple Hazelnut and Cherry Java finishes, as featured on the catalog’s cover. But there was more to the story.  Nicole wanted a kitchen that could multi-task as well as she does—from helping her children with homework to creating gourmet meals to entertaining friends and family. Voila! A kitchen designed with several focal points—hearth, island and desk area.  Finishing touches—corbels, molding, furniture toe kicks, and glass doors—give this hardworking kitchen elegant style and a fine-furniture aesthetic.
