CREATE A COFFEE STATION THAT WORKS
Is your cup of coffee the best part of your morning? If the answer is yes, a coffee station might just become your favorite kitchen corner. Bringing everything you need for your morning routine together in one organized spot is a kitchen design trend that introduces everyday luxury into any size space.
STEP 1: While you can scale your beverage station to fit your needs, location does matter. Position your coffee zone away from your range, sink and primary food prep space to prevent paths from crossing on busy mornings. An underused stretch of cabinetry, a pantry or butler's kitchen are great options, as is a transition area between your kitchen and dining space. If you use creamer, keeping your coffee bar close to your refrigerator or adding a mini-fridge might be the right move.
STEP 2: Take stock of your supplies. A built-in coffee bar gives you the opportunity to plan storage around the specific items you actually use instead of finding somewhere to store them later. Measure your espresso machine and be honest about how many mugs you have currently taking up cabinet space. The ones you use most might belong in a wall cabinet or on an open shelf above your coffee machine, while your coffee beans or pods can live in an organized drawer right below.
STEP 3: Logistics are important. For example, plan access to your coffee machine’s water reservoir and make sure there’s an electrical outlet to plug it into.
STEP 4: Leave enough workspace to make it functional. You should be able to comfortably prepare a drink without competing with clutter.
