American Woodmark® Consumer Lifetime Limited Warranty

The manufacturer of American Woodmark cabinetry hereby warrants to the original purchaser, for residential applications only, that all American Woodmark cabinetry, cabinets and accessories are free from defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty runs for as long as you own your home and begins upon the date of delivery to you. This warranty is expressly limited to repair or replacement of the defective part at the discretion of the manufacturer of American Woodmark cabinetry and does not include labor for removal or replacement. This warranty does not extend to defects caused by improper handling, storage, installation, assembly or disassembly, intentional damage, product modifications, exposure to the elements including humidity which may result in warping or splitting, accidental misuse, abuse, or negligence.

Natural woods may vary in texture, color, and wood grain, and exhibit subtle changes as they age. For example, wood joints may eventually have visible cracking around the joint area and cabinet colors may darken or lighten over time. Sunlight, smoke, moisture, household cleaners and other environmental conditions may cause materials to vary from their original color and/or to warp, split or crack. These variations are considered to be the nature of the material in relation to their environmental exposure and are not covered under this warranty.

Additional Limitations and Disclaimers

The manufacturer of American Woodmark makes no other warranties other than those set forth herein and all other warranties are hereby disclaimed. The implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are limited in duration to the length of the limited warranty period. The limited warranties set forth herein are limited to the first, and original buyer and are not transferable thereafter. In no event shall American Woodmark be liable for incidental or consequential damages to the purchaser or to any third party, including, without limitation, damages arising from personal injury, lost profits, loss of business opportunity, loss of property, economic losses, or statutory or exemplary damages, whether from negligence, warranty, strict liability or otherwise. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations and exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.

Claims

All claims for defective cabinets and accessories must be submitted to the manufacturer in writing and must specify the defects present in the cabinets and accessories. After the manufacturer has had an opportunity to inspect the cabinets and accessories, it will, at their discretion, either replace defective cabinets and accessories or repair any defects in the cabinets and accessories. All claims must be submitted to the following address: American Woodmark Claims Department, Post Office Box 1980, Winchester, Virginia 22604.

CABINET CARE & CLEANING

Your cabinet’s “beautiful furniture finish” is designed to protect the surface against normal home use. With proper care, your cabinetry will provide years of use and beauty in your home.

Remove dust from cabinets frequently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Slightly dampen the cloth with water or use a polishing product safe for cabinets.

Polish wood and laminate cabinet surfaces once every few months but do not use paste wax, as it builds up and is difficult to remove and will leave a residue that attracts dust and moisture. Do not use polishes containing silicone.

Clean spills immediately. Use a clean damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth.

Note: Do not use detergents, ammonia-based cleaners, steel wool, soap pads or abrasive cleaners on your cabinets. Do not place or mount small appliances beneath your wall cabinets. Toasters, coffee makers and other small appliances can produce excessive heat causing damage to your cabinets.

Let Your Wood Cabinets Age Beautifully, Naturally

The wood used to make these cabinets is graded to meet industry standards. No two pieces of wood are exactly alike even if from the same tree. These differences in natural color and grain mean that each piece will respond differently to their environment. For example, closed-grain wood absorbs less finish and will vary in color from more open-grained pieces. These variations contribute to the unparalleled beauty and distinction of natural wood.

Wood is an organic material. Therefore, you should expect variations in texture, color and wood grain.

Over time, exposure to sunlight, smoke and chemicals may cause some materials to fade or vary from their original color. This change in character occurs naturally and is not a defect. It may mean that cabinets added at a later date may not match the color of cabinets installed today. For the same reasons, door samples or displays may not represent the exact color of cabinets at the time of delivery to your home. American Woodmark’s warranty does not cover these and other environmentally triggered occurrences, including humidity, which may result in warping or splitting.

While our wood finishing and laminates process promotes durability, care should be taken to preserve this finish by cleaning only with mild soaps. You should read all cleaning products’ instructions carefully before application.
